On the morning of Thursday, April 16, 2026, H.E. Archbishop Kegham Khacherian, Prelate of the Western Prelacy of the United States, welcomed the graduating class of Rose and Alex Pilibos Armenian School of Hollywood at the Dikran and Zarouhi Der Ghazarian Hall of the Western Prelacy. The students were accompanied by the school’s principal, Dr. Souzy Ohanian, along with teachers and parents. Archpriest Fr. Vicken Vassilian, Pastor of St. Garabed Armenian Apostolic Church of Hollywood, was also in attendance.

Approximately 60 students formally greeted Archbishop Khacherian and Fr. Vassilian. On behalf of the graduating class, two students delivered opening remarks, sharing that as they approach the completion of their 12th grade journey, they had come to the Western Prelacy to receive the Prelate’s fatherly blessings as they prepare to transition from their beloved school to higher educational institutions.

The students presented a thoughtfully prepared cultural program, showcasing their talents which included Armenian recitations, a violin performance of Armenian music, and a selection of national songs, concluding with a standing rendition of “Cilicia,” under the direction of their music teacher, Ms. Lusine Meliksetyan.

In his remarks, Archbishop Khacherian engaged the students in a warm and friendly dialogue, posing questions and reflecting on the importance of Armenian identity, with particular emphasis on language, tradition, and culture as the central focus of his reflections. The Prelate noted with appreciation that this same group had visited the Western Prelacy in earlier years as 5th and 8th grade students, expressing his joy in now addressing a generation shaped by years of Armenian education.

The Prelate described the students gathered in the hall as a fortunate generation, recalling their recent opportunity to meet His Holiness Aram I, Catholicos of the Great House of Cilicia, during his sixth pontifical visit to Los Angeles. Archbishop Khacherian expressed his sincere hope that, as they pursue their individual paths, they will remain connected to their beloved school and, enriched by their experiences and knowledge, will one day return to serve their community and contribute to the continued growth of Armenian schools.

“The students of Armenian schools are our greatest treasure. They give purpose and continuity to our mission of preserving Armenian identity. It is for this reason that your parents, together with us, have undertaken the responsibility of preserving Armenian schools and providing Armenian education to future generations,” stated Archbishop Khacherian.

At the conclusion of the visit, the Prelate expressed his appreciation to the school administration, faculty, and parents, presented each student with a wooden cross necklace, explaining its meaning and significance, and offered the students his fatherly blessings and best wishes for their continued educational journey.
