On Wednesday, August 21, 2024, the Western Prelacy Armenian Schools and Preschools opened their doors to welcome and celebrate the commencement of the 2024-2025 academic year, resulting in great anticipation and excitement from former and new Armenian students, administrators, Boards, teachers, parents, benefactors and friends of the Prelacy Armenian Schools and Preschools.
H.E. Archbishop Kegham Khacherian, Prelate of the Western Prelacy of the United States, presided over the commencement ceremony at Rose and Alex Pilibos Armenian School. The Prelate was accompanied by Mr. Vahe Hovaguimian, Chairman of the Western Prelacy Executive Council, Mr. George Chorbajian, Secretary of the Western Prelacy Executive Council, and Mr. Ara Shabanian, member of the Western Prelacy Executive Council.
During the commencement ceremony, H.E. Archbishop Kegham Khacherian addressed the enthusiastic students and their parents with words of appreciation, emphasizing and praising the exceptional attributes of Armenian Schools to spiritual, national, and community life, and conveyed his best wishes for a successful and safe academic year.
The following day, on Thursday, August 22, 2024, H.E. Archbishop Khacherian participated in the opening ceremony of Holy Martyrs Marie Cabayan Kindergarten, where he conveyed his fatherly blessings to all the attendees.
On the occasion of the commencement of the new academic year, Prelacy local parish pastors represented H.E. Archbishop Kegham Khacherian at the commencement ceremonies of the remaining Western Prelacy Armenian Schools and Preschools, conveying the Prelate’s welcoming message and wishing everyone a blessed and prosperous academic year.
Very Rev. Fr. Zareh Sarkissian, Dean of St. Mary’s Armenian Apostolic Church of Glendale, attended the commencement ceremony of Vahan and Anoush Chamlian Armenian Schools, on behalf of H.E. Archbishop Kegham Khacherian. Also present at the commencement ceremony were Archpriest Fr. Gomidas Torossian, Pastor of St. Mary’s Armenian Apostolic Church, Mr. Mher Der Ohanessian, Vice-Chairperson of the Western Prelacy Executive Council, and Mr. Gevik Baghdassarian, member of the Western Prelacy Executive Council.
Archpriest Fr. Razmig Khatchadourian, Pastor of Holy Martyrs Armenian Church of Encino, and Ms. Dzovig Zetlian, member of the Western Prelacy Executive Council, were in attendance at the commencement ceremony of Holy Martyrs Ferrahian High School.
The commencement ceremony of Armenian Mesrobian School in Pico Rivera was attended by Very Rev. Fr. Muron Aznikian, Dean of Holy Cross Armenian Apostolic Cathedral of Montebello, along with Mr. Jack Hadjinian, member of the Western Prelacy Executive Council.
Levon and Hasmig Tavlian Armenian Preschool and Kindergarten in Pasadena held its commencement ceremony on Friday, August 23, 2024. On behalf of the Prelate, Rev. Fr. Ghevont Kirazian, Pastor of the Holy Archangels Armenian Apostolic Church of Crescenta Valley, attended the commencement ceremony, extended a warm welcome to all the members of the educational community, offered blessings to the educational institution, and conveyed the fatherly blessings of H.E. Archbishop Kegham Khacherian.
