
On Saturday, September 6, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., His Eminence Archbishop Kegham Khacherian, Prelate of the Western Prelacy of the United States, presided over a one-day gathering of the Sunday School faculties of the Western Prelacy which took place at the hall of St. Mary’s Armenian Apostolic Church in Glendale. The gathering was organized by the Western Prelacy Sunday Schools Supervisory Board.
The program, marking the reopening of the Western Prelacy Sunday schools, commenced with welcoming remarks by Very Rev. Fr. Muron Aznikian, Chair of the Western Prelacy Sunday Schools Supervisory Board. Following the welcoming remarks, the Sunday School Directors introduced their teaching staff, highlighting the importance of their devoted service towards the spiritual and moral upbringing of the new Armenian generation.
In his message, H.E. Archbishop Khacherian praised the annual work and efforts of the Sunday schools. Reflecting on the voluntary nature of their service, he described the dedication of the teachers as invaluable and pleasing to God, affirming that their spirit of service is rooted in their Christian faith.
Emphasizing the importance of preparing new teachers to serve in Sunday schools, H.E. Archbishop Khacherian also emphasized that expanding Christian education within community life requires broader efforts, including the engagement of parish communities in attracting new students.
The Prelate also addressed the preparation of new religion textbooks, calling it an urgent need and priority. He expressed hope that these much-needed religion textbooks designed to strengthen spiritual education, will be completed without delay, stressing that they will significantly contribute to the healthy spiritual growth of Armenian children and youth.
The Prelate concluded the one-day gathering with his fatherly blessings and best wishes.
