Dr. Varuzhan Geghamyan Visits The Western Prelacy

On Tuesday, March 11, 2025, visiting from Armenia, Dr. Varuzhan Geghamyan, a lecturer, historian, and expert in Oriental Studies at Yerevan State University and the American University of Armenia, visited the Western Prelacy and met with H.E. Archbishop Kegham Khacherian, Prelate of the Western Prelacy of the United States. Also attending the meeting was Rev. Fr. Karekin Bedourian, Pastor of Forty Martyrs Armenian Apostolic Church of Orange County.

During the visit, Dr. Geghamyan presented H.E. Archbishop Kegham Khacherian with a recently published scholarly and historical volume, History of Turkey: The Political Contours of the Hundred-Year-Old Republic (1923-2023), in which Dr. Geghamyan is one of the contributing authors.

Additionally, on Sunday, March 9, 2025, Dr. Geghamyan delivered a lecture titled Armenia in the New World: What Awaits Us, at the Gugasian Hall of Forty Martyrs Armenian Apostolic Church in Orange County. The lecture was organized by the Armenian community of Orange County, who also contributed to the publication of the aforementioned volume.

Dr. Geghamyan expressed his appreciation to H.E. Archbishop Khacherian for the opportunity to engage in a meaningful exchange of ideas and discuss concerns regarding current developments in Armenia. Dr. Geghamyan emphasized the vital role of the Armenian Apostolic Church and the Armenian Diaspora in preserving the Armenian statehood and advancing pan-Armenian objectives and initiatives.

H.E. Archbishop Kegham Khacherian commended Dr. Varuzhan Geghamyan for his dedication and scholarly contributions, offering his best wishes for continued success in his research, studies, and historical pursuits.
