
On Sunday, June 1, 2025, H.E. Archbishop Kegham Khacherian, Prelate of the Western Prelacy of the United States, celebrated Divine Liturgy at Holy Cross Armenian Apostolic Cathedral in Montebello. Rev. Fr. Ashod Kambourian, pastor of Holy Cross Cathedral celebrated the Divine liturgy.
The Divine Liturgy was attended by faithful parishioners, members of the church community, and representatives of Armenian Mesrobian School in Pico Rivera, including Ms. Lena Garabedian, Principal of Armenian Mesrobian School, faculty, graduating seniors, and their parents. As part of a longstanding tradition, the 12th grade students gathered at the church on the eve of their commencement ceremony to receive Holy Communion from the Prelate.
Prior to the Holy Communion, H.E. Archbishop Khacherian addressed the graduates, emphasizing the spiritual and symbolic meaning of the moment. “Today you receive Holy Communion, strengthening your bond with the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ. At the same time, you are affirming your unbreakable connection to the Armenian Church, your Armenian Identity, and your heritage as Armenian Christians.” H.E. Archbishop Khacherian congratulated the graduates on reaching this important milestone in their lives, offered them his fatherly blessings, and wished them continued success in all stages of life. At the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, the graduates approached the altar and received Holy Communion as prayers were chanted.
Following the Divine Liturgy, the Prelate, the school principal, and faculty joined the students and their families for a celebratory luncheon organized by the Board of Trustees in honor of the graduating class.
