
On the evening of Wednesday, April 9, 2025, H.E. Archbishop Kegham Khacherian, Prelate of the Western Prelacy of the United States, presided over the annual celebration organized by the Committee for Armenian Students in Public Schools (CASPS), which was held at the Glendale Performing Arts Center. The event, a longstanding tradition, honors the academic achievements of Armenian students in public schools across the Western region and highlights the organization’s commitment to offering both moral and financial support.
During the program, CASPS founder and devoted longtime member Mrs. Medea Kalognomos was recognized for her enduring service and was presented with a Certificate of Appreciation by H.E. Archbishop Kegham Khacherian. In addition, Armenian students from public schools within the Glendale Unified School District who attained high GPAs in the 2025 academic year were honored with certificates celebrating their academic excellence.
H.E. Archbishop Khacherian was accompanied by Rev. Fr. Movses Shannakian, Pastor of St. Mary’s Armenian Apostolic Church of Glendale.
On this special occasion, H.E. Archbishop Kegham Khacherian offered heartfelt recognition to Mrs. Medea Kalognomos for her valuable contributions, commending her unwavering dedication to the academic advancement of Armenian youth in the community. In his message of blessing and appreciation, the Prelate also addressed the students who had achieved high GPAs, stating, “These outstanding Armenian students, representing the public secondary schools of the Glendale Unified School District, have demonstrated remarkable diligence and academic excellence. Their achievements elevate the educational standards of our community and further illuminate the inspiring mission of the Western Prelacy.”
In concluding his remarks, H.E. Archbishop Kegham Khacherian offered his fatherly blessings and words of encouragement, stating, “On this meaningful occasion, we extend our heartfelt blessings and appreciation to every young man and woman who brings honor to our community and nation. May your educational journey be guided by green lights, and may your future shine with success, so that you, in turn, may contribute to the vital mission of enriching and advancing the academic lives of generations to come.”
Founded in 1994, CASPS operates under the auspices of the Western Prelacy, dedicated to supporting the academic advancement of students and actively addressing the social and educational challenges they face in local public schools.
