
On the morning of Friday, April 3, 2026, H.E. Archbishop Kegham Khacherian, Prelate of the Western Prelacy of the United States, received at the Western Prelacy Headquarters the Hamazkayin State Theater Company of Armenia, founded by Sos Sargsyan. The company is currently in Los Angeles to present four theatrical productions under the artistic direction of Narine Grigoryan, hosted by the Hamazkayin Regional Executive of the Western United States. The visiting delegation also includes Armenia based actor and director Davit Hakobyan.
The meeting, held in the main hall of the Western Prelacy, was attended by the Chairman of the Hamazkayin Regional Executive, Mr. Manoug Joukhajian, along with Executive members Mrs. Shoushig Arslanian and Mr. Raffi Ohanian. Also present was Mr. Viken Hovsepian, author of the poetic work “Faith in the Stars,” which is among the productions being presented by the theatrical group.
Archbishop Khacherian warmly welcomed the visiting artists and commended Hamazkayin’s cultural mission both in Armenia and throughout the Diaspora. In his remarks, the Prelate highlighted the enduring national mission of the theater group bearing the name of Sos Sargsyan, emphasizing its meaningful contribution to the promotion and preservation of both Eastern and Western Armenian languages, while remaining faithful to the legacy of its distinguished founder, renowned actor and director Sos Sargsyan.
During the visit, the Prelate engaged in a warm discussion with the members of the group, learning more about their artistic work and ongoing initiatives. On behalf of the Hamazkayin Regional Executive of the Western United States and the visiting artists, Mr. Joukhajian expressed appreciation for the warm reception and extended an invitation to the Prelate to attend the upcoming performances, scheduled to take place over four days following Easter, from April 7 to 10.
Following remarks and explanations by the director and members of the group, the Prelate conveyed his appreciation and presented an official certificate of recognition to the Sos Sargsyan Theater Company. The certificate was read by Mrs. Knar Kortoshian, Chancellor of the Western Prelacy.
The Armenian community of Los Angeles is invited to attend these four theatrical productions, rich in national spirit and universal themes. All performances will take place at the Barnsdall Gallery Theatre (4800 Hollywood Blvd., Los Angeles), according to the following schedule:
• “And It’s Snowing Outside” — Tuesday, April 7, 7:00 PM
• “Man in the Palm” (inspired by poet Paruyr Sevak) — Wednesday, April 8, 7:00 PM
• “Genesis of Victory” — Thursday, April 9, 7:00 PM
• “Faith in the Stars” — Friday, April 10, 7:30 PM
