On Friday, September 25, 2026, H.E. Archbishop Kegham Khacherian, Prelate of the Western Prelacy of the United States, received Mrs. Siranush Sahakyan, an Armenian attorney who represents the interests of Armenian prisoners before the European Court of Human Rights. Mrs. Sahakyan was accompanied by Mr. Levon Baronian and Mr. Mike Kelechian, members of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation Western U.S. Central Committee. Also present at the meeting were Executive Council members Mr. Jack Hadjinian, Vice Chair, Mrs. Elizabeth Boyajian, Secretary, Mrs. Dzovig Zetlian, Advisor, as well as Mr. Steve Dadaian and Mrs. Sarig Armenian.
During the introductory meeting, Archbishop Khacherian welcomed Mrs. Sahakyan and expressed his appreciation for the significant legal responsibility she has undertaken and for her ongoing efforts related to the release of Armenian political prisoners held in Azerbaijan, as well as her work addressing legal matters related to Artsakh and the rights of the people of Artsakh.
Mrs. Sahakyan provided a detailed overview of her work, including the political, legal, and humanitarian processes involved, along with the progress achieved to date. She emphasized that significant legal work remains to be carried out by the Armenian side and stressed the importance of continued support from Armenians worldwide in efforts concerning the restoration of rights related to Artsakh and the people of Artsakh.
Following a constructive and wide-ranging discussion and exchange of views, Archbishop Khacherian wished Mrs. Sahakyan continued success in her important and challenging work. He also expressed his hope for the swift return of Armenian political prisoners, the restoration of Armenian presence in Artsakh, and the restoration of the rights of the families of the fallen and the surviving people of Artsakh.
