On Saturday, September 19, 2026, H.E. Archbishop Kegham Khacherian, Prelate of the Western Prelacy of the United States, accompanied by clergy of the Western Prelacy, attended a celebration commemorating the 111th anniversary of the heroic resistance of Musa Dagh. The event was held at the residence of Mr. Dikran Boghossian, a descendant of Musa Dagh, in La Canada, Los Angeles.
During the celebration, the Prelate offered prayers and blessed the traditional madagh (offering). He then joined the descendants of Musa Dagh in partaking of the traditional harissa and delivered a heartfelt message to those gathered for the occasion.
In his remarks, Archbishop Khacherian reflected on the historical and political circumstances surrounding the heroic self-defense of the Armenian villages of Musa Dagh during the summer of 1915. He praised the courage, resilience, and unwavering determination of the people of Musa Dagh, who stood firm in the face of Turkish brutality and the harsh forces of nature. The Prelate urged those present to keep the memory of this heroic resistance alive by continually recounting its story within their families and passing it down to their children and grandchildren. He emphasized the importance of preserving this legacy so that the heroic spirit of the Armenian people may continue to inspire and flourish in the hearts and lives of future generations.
“The heroic resistance of Musa Dagh is an integral part of the Armenian nation’s history of heroic struggles. Through these struggles, successive generations of Armenians have preserved and strengthened their national identity, spirit, and historical heritage. The heroic self-defense of Musa Dagh holds an enduring place in this legacy,” emphasized Archbishop Khacherian.
On this occasion, Archbishop Khacherian also shared in the joy and festive spirit of the grandchildren and great-grandchildren of Musa Dagh’s older generation as they gathered to celebrate their ancestral heritage and honor the enduring legacy of their forefathers.
