On Wednesday, March 1, 2023, H.G. Bishop Torkom Donoyan, Prelate, presided over the Lenten luncheon which was organized by the Western Prelacy Ladies Auxiliary. The luncheon took place at “Legacy Banquet Hall,” which was hosted by Mrs. Perouz Konialian and attended by clergy, Mrs. Dzovig Zetlian, member of the Executive Council, and guests.
On behalf of the ladies auxiliary, Mrs. Alvard Barseghian delivered the opening remarks and invited Bishop Donoyan and the accompanying clergy to sing “morning service” hymns and bless the tables.
After the lunch, the Vicar of the Eastern Prelacy, Very Rev. Sahag Yemishian delivered his message to the attendees, stressing on the importance of Great Lent and emphasized that the Lenten period of the Armenian Apostolic Church is also accompanied by a humanitarian mission. Dr. Verjine Madenlian, was then invited to speak about the work done by the Armenian Bone Marrow Donor Registry.
Following the speeches, Bishop Donoyan and the host of the day, Mrs. Konialian, were invited to the stage. The Prelate noted Mrs. Konialian’s positive influence to the humanitarian programs of the Western Prelacy. Bishop Donoyan re-emphasized the mission of the Prelacy towards the children of the nation and the homeland, stating that this event is a path to increase love not only for each other, but also for distant communities as well. The Bishop concluded his remarks by highly commending the efforts of the Ladies Auxiliary, which offered the proceeds of the luncheon to be allocated towards the needy Armenians in Aleppo, Syria.
On behalf of the organizing committee, the Prelate honored the host with a special plaque, and the Ladies Auxiliary presented her with a bouquet.
A short artistic program was performed during the luncheon.
