The heads of the Armenian Prelacies in North America got together on Thursday, March 30, in the offices of the Western Prelacy in Los Angeles to discuss an agenda that included the upcoming visit of Catholicos Aram I as well as work related to the revitalization of community life. Participating in the meeting were His Eminence Archbishop Archbishop Anoushavan Tanielian, Prelate of the Eastern Prelacy; His Eminence Archbishop Papken Tcharian, Prelate of Canada; and the Prelate of the host Prelacy, His Grace Bishop Torkom Donoyan.

The Prelates went over the plans to welcome His Holiness Catholicos Aram in his visit of the three Prelacies, an opportunity for the renewal of spiritual and cultural life in the Armenian communities of North America.

They also examined the work done in regard to the Catholicosal proclamation of 2023 as the Year of the Diaspora II, with a view to enhance the service to every Armenian, as well as the parishes and schools.

Christian education for the youth was also the object of particular attention of the Prelates. They discussed ways to make it more amenable for the new generation, as they committed to continue their efforts in this initiative.

One of the items on the agenda was also the restructuring of the parishes, with observations and comments referred to the Holy See. The Prelates will expect further guidance from Catholicos Aram I to carry out this initiative.

In the course of the meeting, the Prelates held a video conference with His Holiness, whose recommendations they will relay to the Lay and Executive Councils of their jurisdictions for its joint implementation with the goal of renewing the religious and community life in the parishes.
