On Friday morning, July 24, 2026, H.E. Archbishop Kegham Khacherian, Prelate of the Western Prelacy of the United States, presided over the opening session of the two-day Armenian Relief Society (ARS) Western U.S. Regional Convention, held at Avedissian Hall of Holy Martyrs Ferrahian Armenian School in Encino. The Prelate offered the opening prayer and subsequently delivered heartfelt remarks to the delegates.
Archbishop Khacherian first extended his greetings to the worldwide Armenian Relief Society, its pan-Armenian structures and members, together with their families. He then reflected on the significant national and historic role of the ARS, an organization with a distinguished legacy spanning more than a century. Archbishop Khacherian described the ARS as a compassionate mother to the Armenian nation, a caring sister, and a devoted force of Armenian women committed to serving the Armenian people and safeguarding the homeland.
After greeting the members of the ARS Western U.S. Regional Executive and the convention delegates, Archbishop Khacherian observed that, despite the passage of time, the ARS continues to move forward with vitality and strength, inspiring confidence among the Armenian people through its mission and service. “This is why Armenians everywhere look to you with deep trust, as exemplary, disciplined, and dedicated members of the Armenian Relief Society,” Archbishop Khacherian stated. Concluding his remarks, the Prelate noted that, in light of the ARS’s distinguished record of service, it is no coincidence that the Armenian people continue to hold great expectations of the organization. He expressed hope that the two-day convention would successfully address the matters on its agenda and plant in the hearts of the delegates the seeds of a new and beneficial community-wide initiative, so that in the near future, this eagerly anticipated program may become a reality and serve the Armenian community.
