On Sunday, August 21, 2022, a special requiem service was held in all Prelacy Churches, for the victims of the “Surmalou” tragedy, which took place on August 14, 2022, in Yerevan, Armenia.
H.G. Bishop Torkom Donoyan, Prelate, presided over the Divine Liturgy at St. Sarkis Armenian Church in Pasadena and blessed the water using the newly blessed Holy Muron. The Prelate delivered his message to all the faithful in attendance, which also included delegates, representatives of community organizations.
The faithful participated in the ceremony with great enthusiasm and with the well wishes of healing and peace; they took the blessed water to their homes.
