On Sunday morning, June 8, 2025, H.E. Archbishop Kegham Khacherian, Prelate of the Western Prelacy of the United States, celebrated Divine Liturgy and delivered a sermon on the occasion of the Feast of Pentecost at St. Garabed Armenian Apostolic Church in Hollywood. The celebrant of the Divine Liturgy was Archpriest Fr. Vicken Vassilian, Pastor of St. Garabed Armenian Apostolic Church.

In his sermon, H.E. Archbishop Khacherian reflected on the significance of the Feast of Pentecost, explaining that the feast marks the descent of the Holy Spirit upon earth, who is the third person of the Holy Trinity. The Prelate explained, “The Feast of Pentecost follows the Ascension of Jesus Christ and marks the establishment of the Christian Church through the work of the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Holy Trinity. While the Holy Trinity always works together as one, at different points in time, one particular face of the Holy Trinity is revealed and at work. In the Old Testament, it is primarily God the Father who is revealed. With the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and until His Ascension, although the Holy Trinity remains united as one essence, it is the Son of God who is visibly at work on earth, as we see throughout the Gospels and the life of Christ recorded in the New Testament.”

Continuing his sermon, H.E. Archbishop Khacherian said, “From the Ascension of Jesus Christ until now, and for all time, the Holy Trinity continues to work in the world, but now it is the Holy Spirit who is revealed to us as the active face through the Feast of Pentecost. It is through the work of the Holy Spirit, the Christian Church was founded and continues to stand today, bearing the seal of the Holy Spirit in all its sacraments. It is the Holy Spirit who leads, renews, teaches the Church, while inspiring and guiding both shepherd and flock alike.”

H.E. Archbishop Khacherian concluded his sermon with a prayer, asking the Holy Spirit to visit the hearts of all those present inside the house of God, to renew, comfort, strengthen, and guide them in their faith and in their daily lives.
