On Wednesday, February 26, 2025, H.E. Archbishop Kegham Khacherian, Prelate of the Western Prelacy of the United States, welcomed representatives of the Armenian Bone Marrow Donor Registry (ABMDR), led by its president, Dr. Frieda Jordan.
The visiting delegation extended their wishes to H.E. Archbishop Khacherian on the occasion of Christmas and the New Year and provided updates on ABMDR’s recent achievements, ongoing initiatives, and future plans, emphasizing the significant increase in workers in recent months, as well as the number of people who have expressed interest in the life-saving mission of the registry.
Dr. Frieda Jordan elaborated on ABMDR’s continuous global efforts to seek and recruit new donors to aid patients in need of bone marrow transplants and emphasized that a larger donor pool directly increases the likelihood of saving lives and helping individuals with life-threatening illnesses regain their health. On behalf of ABMDR, Dr. Jordan requested that H.E. Archbishop Khacherian designate an upcoming Sunday as a day of prayer.
H.E. Archbishop Kegham Khacherian commended ABMDR’s leadership and dedicated volunteers for their invaluable service and commendable efforts in the field of bone marrow transplantation. The Prelate emphasized the significance of such humanitarian efforts, similar to ABMDR’s mission, particularly during Lent, and deemed it a time of spiritual reflection and renewal of life, stating, “You inspire hope in the hopeless and equip the desperate with strength.”
Following discussions, Sunday, March 23, 2025, was officially designated as a Day of Prayer in support of ABMDR’s mission.
