The “Academic Excellence Center” Is Established
On Friday afternoon, August 14, 2026, H.E. Archbishop Kegham Khacherian, Prelate of the Western Prelacy of the United States, presided over a ribbon-cutting ceremony marking the completion of several development and expansion projects at Rose and Alex Pilibos Armenian School in Hollywood. In attendance were Archpriest Fr. Vicken Vassilian, Pastor of St. Garabed Armenian Apostolic Church; members of the Executive Council of the Western Prelacy and the Board of Regents of Prelacy Armenian Schools; the school’s Principal, Dr. Souzy Ohanian; members of the Board of Trustees and School Board; representatives of local organizations and community institutions, benefactors, friends, and guests.
Gathered in the school hall, Dr. Ohanian welcomed those in attendance and provided an overview of six generous contributions made to the school by various families and individual benefactors. She highlighted the nature and purpose of each contribution and the projects made possible through their generosity:
A) Through the generosity of principal benefactor Mr. Aris Stambolian, a permanent endowment was established for the ongoing maintenance and preservation of the school’s existing facilities, along with the establishment of the “Aris Stambolian Academic Excellence Center.”
B) Through the generosity of the Eshgian family, a new soccer field was constructed.
C) Through the generosity of the Jarakian family, a new basketball court was constructed.
D) Through the generosity of the Goudikian family, solar panels were installed at the A.R.S. “Mayr” Chapter Mary Postoian Preschool.
E) Through the generosity of the Kasparian-Jeffries families, a new classroom was established.
F) Through the generosity of an anonymous benefactor, a new physical education facility was established and will be named in memory of the school’s late alumnus, Sanan Mahseredjian.
Also present for the ribbon-cutting ceremonies were Mr. Mher Der Ohannessian, benefactor of the Rose and Alex Pilibos – Mher & Satig Der Ohanessian Armenian Elementary School, along with his son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Saro and Theresa Der Ohannesian.
The Prelate toured the various areas of the school and accompanied by the benefactors and donor families, participated in the ribbon cutting ceremonies for each of the newly completed projects and facilities. Following the ribbon cutting ceremonies, a special presentation was held in the school’s Nerses Tashdjian Gymnasium, where commemorative gifts of appreciation were presented to the six benefactor families and donors whose generosity made these projects possible.
Expressing his deep appreciation for the efforts undertaken and the generous contributions made toward the continued advancement and modernization of Rose and Alex Pilibos Armenian School, Archbishop Khacherian delivered concluding remarks in which he congratulated all those who actively contribute to the mission of the school, as well as the generous benefactors and donors whose support helped bring these important projects to fruition.
The Prelate wished the students of the Hollywood Armenian community and their parents good health, long and prosperous lives, and continued prosperous national service to the Armenian nation and community. He concluded by bestowing his fatherly blessings and extending his best wishes to all those present.
