On Wednesday, March 24, 2021, H.G. Bishop Torkom Donoyan, Prelate, presided over the last Lenten evening service, which took place at the Western Prelacy’s “Dikran and Zarouhi Der Ghazarian” Hall. A candlelight vigil was held for the souls of the martyrs. The service was attended by Clergy, Executive Council, Western Prelacy Ladies Auxiliary Guild and the faithful.
At the end of the service, the Prelate delivered his message, speaking about the role of Lent in the life of a Christian, while reminding everyone that during Holy Week, we are invited to focus our attention on our Lord and Savior.

Continuing his message, the Prelate stated; “During this sacred moment, as we gather here together within the Western Prelacy, we establish a new fund within the Western Prelacy, called ‘Artsakh Heroes Families Fund’ which will be operational in the coming days. The purpose of this fund is to extend a helping hand to the families of the victims of the Artsakh War”. He further expounded on the idea of giving, and mentioned that the Western Prelacy Ladies Auxiliary Guild made a special effort preparing and selling Lenten dishes – as well as with the support of the clergy – managed to raise $50,000 in recent days for the fund. The Prelate concluded his message by stating; “Today, in memory of the martyrs, 249 candles were lit in various Armenian homes tonight, and at the same time one candle was lit in the Western Prelacy.”
During the requiem service, Berge Kirazian sang the “Kta Der” hymn, while the Prelate lit the single candle in memory of the martyrs. The service ended with the singing of the Armenian National Anthem.
